As a former athlete, Dwayne Hay knows the special privileges enjoyed by athletes and celebrities. As an athlete, Dwayne Hay was invited to attend a number of special events including charity events. In the past, Dwayne Hay participated in a number of golf and hockey tourneys. Each of the events were designed to raise awareness and fund specific causes.

Dwayne Hay has taken part in charity tourneys for prostate cancer, various illnesses, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and for Calgary education. Dwayne Hay’s participated drew attention to the tournaments. With a professional athlete’s participation, awareness and funds were raised to find cures or treatment solutions for the diseases or illnesses. Dwayne Hay was proud of his athletic career and professional hockey playing success but he never underestimated the importance of education. Some students who aspire to be professional players underestimate the value of education. Dwayne Hay knows they are making a mistake. Dwayne Hay hoped raising money for education would encourage those students to remain in school and take their education seriously.

Dwayne Hay as a former professional athlete pushes the positive effects of education. He hopes students will embrace reading and further their education. In his post-hockey years, Dwayne Hay was hired as Hockey Coordinator of Strive Fitness and Nutrition in Calgary, Alberta Canada. As the facility’s Hockey Coordinator, Dwayne Hay was charged with designing and developing programs for hockey players. Dwayne Hay would never have guessed as a student how important reading and writing skills were for designing sports related programs.
Dwayne Hay continues to use his former professional career for good use. He continues to support charities and special causes. Dwayne Hay hopes people will continue to spread awareness for cancer, drug and alcohol abuse. The problems affect every community and Dwayne Hay hopes through continued support, better treatments or cures will be found
